What is this Region?
The Gascoyne, in the North West of Western Australia, captures more than 600 kilometres of Indian Ocean coastline and stretches about 500km inland. The coastal area incorporates internationally recognised features such as the Ningaloo Coast and Shark Bay World Heritage Areas, Monkey Mia, and Coral Bay. The hinterland includes the outstanding features of the Kennedy Ranges and Mount Augustus.
The Gascoyne region has a mid-subtropical climate and enjoys the reputation of the ‘sun’s winter home’ with around 320 days of sunshine each year.
With a population of approximately 10,000 people in 2015, the Gascoyne has the lowest estimated resident population of all the regions in Western Australia.
The Gascoyne region includes the local government authorities of: Carnarvon, Exmouth, Shark Bay and Upper Gascoyne.

Unskilled – You don’t possess any formal qualifications related to agriculture, horticulture or fisheries. You are qualified for employment in roles such as fruit/vegetable picker, deck hand, cleaner, farm hand/worker and more. It is strongly encouraged you complete some training in Occupational Health and Safety in order to prepare for work in a manual environment.
Skilled – You possess formal qualifications related to agriculture, horticulture or fisheries such as a forklift ticket, a truck license, experience driving agricultural machinery or a certificate/degree in a related field. You are qualified for employment in roles such as machinery operator, truck driver, stockperson, farm hand/worker and more.
Students – You are currently studying or just finished your degree. You might be a skilled or an unskilled worker when it comes to agriculture, horticulture or fisheries, but sign up as a student regardless!
