What is this region?

The Mid West region is strategically positioned between Perth and Western Australia’s North. It runs 340km along the coast from the town of Green Head (south) to Kalbarri (north) and inland around 1000km to Wiluna’s eastern boundary in the Gibson Desert.

Home to a population of around 58 000, the region’s 17 local governments are notionally divided into three sub-regions namely the Batavia Coast, Murchison and North Midlands sub-regions.

The Mid West region is WA’s most diverse regional economy built around mining, agriculture, fishing and tourism. With its wide open spaces, stunning landscapes, abundant natural resources, key strategic infrastructure and institutions, the Mid West is well placed for further growth and prosperity.

The Mid West region includes the local government authorities of: Carnamah, Chapman Valley, Coorow, Cue, Greater Geraldton (incl. Geraldton, Greenough and Mullewa), Irwin, Meekatharra, Mingenew, Morawa, Mount Magnet, Murchison, Northampton, Perenjori, Sandstone, Three Springs, Wiluna and Yalgoo.

Candidates

Are you an unskilled worker, a skilled worker or a student?

Unskilled – You don’t possess any formal qualifications related to agriculture, horticulture or fisheries. You are qualified for employment in roles such as fruit/vegetable picker, deck hand, cleaner, farm hand/worker and more. It is strongly encouraged you complete some training in Occupational Health and Safety in order to prepare for work in a manual environment.

Skilled – You possess formal qualifications related to agriculture, horticulture or fisheries such as a forklift ticket, a truck license, experience driving agricultural machinery or a certificate/degree in a related field. You are qualified for employment in roles such as machinery operator, truck driver, stockperson, farm hand/worker and more.

Students – You are currently studying or just finished your degree. You might be a skilled or an unskilled worker when it comes to agriculture, horticulture or fisheries, but sign up as a student regardless!
